Although on paper Kasim Sulton made 5 more public appearances in 2005 than he did in 2004, these were mainly helped by 63 appearances in Movin' Out so in fact during 2005 Kasim spent far less time than he has in recent years on tour as he only toured from June until September with Meat Loaf, plus he played 8 gigs as part of Patty Smyth and Scandal during January and February.
Sadly for Kasim's fans his aim in March 2004 to play "numerous solo gigs late in 2004 and throughout 2005" never happened as he only played one solo gig during 2005 (Manchester, England in July) plus he made an in-store appearance in New Berlin, WI in October. Also the new version of Quid Pro Quo was not released (but this may be due to the problems at Sanctuary Records). On the plus side Kasim played one new song he wrote at the Manchester gig and a Phil Thornalley song which Kasim recorded in London has been added to download on KasimSulton.com recently. Also Kasim has been keeping all his fans quite up to date with his online journal which has proved to be very popular.
Kasim appeared on several new albums which were released in 2005 including Unstoppable by Sounding Rick (this involved in Kasim travelling to Florida a few times) and Todd Rundgren's Liars DVD. Kasim has also started recording Meat Loaf's forthcoming album Bat Out Of Hell III which is expected to be released in either late 2006 or 2007.
Kasim also spent over a week playing and being Musical Director for a new artist in February (complete with a showcase performance), the best part of two weeks rehearsing in Las Vegas in preparation for the Meat Loaf tour and a couple of weeks in Los Angeles rehearsing and recording new songs for The New Cars Tour in 2006.
(For the sake of this analysis I've listed Kasim's appearance at Toys In The Park as a charity benefit concert (as he didn't play a solo gig) and the Hurricane Katrina Meat Loaf gig as one of the Meat Loaf concerts.)
