Tour mileage
01.00 - During the European leg of the Meat Loaf Hair Of The Dog Tour in my Travels to see Kasim Blog I kept a total of the number of miles that I drove which proved to be popular according to the e-mails I received (the total was 7,601 as I had a couple of mishaps). As the touring part of the US leg of the tour starts this week, I thought I would keep a running total of the miles covered by Kasim. I hope for Kasim's sake that he doesn't have to travel by bus all these distances but one way or another he will be covering these miles (and more as he'll travel from venues to hotels which I can't calculate).
New York to Rama, ON - 580 miles

Songs on the Meat Loaf tour
05.00 - A couple of people have e-mailed me requesting more info on the songs that are sung on the Meat Loaf Hair Of The Dog Tour. I'm no musician but these were my responses and they may be of some interest to other people too:
Warrior
The show starts with Randy Flowers walking on stage and playing a bluesy type of music, then John Miceli plays the drums and all the other men in the band (kasim Sulton, Randy Flowers, Paul Crook and Mark Alexander) play guitar. The tune they play is more rocking than blues and lasts for only 1 or 2 minutes maximum. At the first few concerts, I (and everyone else) thought that it was the start of Whore but Meat Loaf made a comment at a Meet and Greet that people don't realise that it's a different song and he told those people the name of the song and to keep the name quiet. A couple of concerts later one of these people mentioned the name Warrior so I have assumed that this is the name of the tune...I could be totally wrong though! However, it's not the Scandal song The Warrior.
Whore
This is a song that is on Meat Loaf's adopted daughter Pearl Aday's CD. According to the album notes the song was written by Mother Superior. When Meat Loaf performs it on stage, it is just him, Patti Russo and CC who sing the song with all the guys playing guitar and John Miceli on drums.
Black Betty
This is a well known cover song and it's the song that goes "Black Betty Bam-ba-Lam" quite a bit. I don't know who originally sang it but certainly Ram Jam recorded a version of the song.
Only When I Feel
This is the song which Meat Loaf always introduces as from Bat Out Of Hell 3: The Final At Bat (due out in 2006). On stage this song starts with a slow section of Meat Loaf singing about "how it hurts only when I feel" and then it goes into the fast part of the song that is If It Ain't Broke (Break It). This fast part is a Jim Steinman song that is already commercially available as it appeared on the soundtrack to the MTV musical version of Wuthering Heights. Near the end of the song, they go back to the slower Only When I Feel part before finishing with singing loads of "If it ain't broke - BREAK IT!".
Anything For Love
To my knowledge this is the first time that the arrangements to this song have been changed on a tour. There's been a fair amount of discussion on how they sing it on stage but the way I've always heard it is that the song starts with "I would do anything for love but I won't do that" sung about 10 times (Kasim and CC sing the first couple and then the others in the band including Meat Loaf join in). They then go into the first verse before singing the chorus and ending with the "Will you raise me up,
will you help me down" section that Patti Russo and Meat Loaf sing in turn.
Mercury Blues
Mercury Blues is also known as Crazy About A Mercury and is the "hidden" track on the Meat Loaf album Couldn't Have Said It Better (it's the only track that is song from that album on this tour). I'm unsure who recorded the song first but it was written by KC Douglas and Robert Geddins and was used extensively in a Ford car commercial. Alan Jackson, David Lindley, Steve Miller and Canned Heat have also recorded versions of the song.
If you believe that any of the info above is incorrect then please e-mail me at SueW@KasimInfo.com.
