The name of the venue comes from the song Minglewood Blues (written by Noah Lewis) which was recorded in 1928. However this is a new venue as construction on it only started in June 2008 and was completed last December.

The address of the venue is 1099 Euclid Avenue, Atlanta, GA, 30307 and this is only the second time that Kasim Sulton has played here in recent years (the first being 17th April last year. Click here to view the venue website. The stage is 27 feet deep by 36 feet wide and is 3 and a half feet high. Seated this venue holds 450 people but standing it can hold up to 1,050. The concert starts at 8.30pm and tickets (from this link) are $30 plus charges each. This is a General Admission gig.

The Variety Playhouse was originally called the Euclid Theatre and opened in 1945. The theatre was vacant from 1961 until the late 1980s when it reopened as a concert venue. It was renamed the Variety Playhouse in 2007.

KasimInfo.com has a history of April Fool's Day tricks over the years. In 2002 a lot of people were fooled by a spoof interview from Rolling Stone Magazine with Kasim that was added. Click here to read it. When it was posted it had loads of Rolling Stone logos too. Some of the Kasim quotes are genuine but some were fabricated. Ironically the part about Kasim opening for Meat Loaf even actually came true (when I wrote this spoof, I had got him listed on Pollstar a few times and they assumed that was opening for Meat Loaf but we didn't know then that Kasim Sulton would eventually open most of the concerts). This was one of the best interviews that Kasim didn't do!

In 2003 there was a very mild prank as it was just listed on the "This Day" section "On This Day in 1994 Kasim Sulton changed his socks" or something mild like that.

In 2004 a business card that was supposed to have been Kasim's was posted to the website. (Click here to view it.) That year someone did e-mail to complain that they didn't think it a good idea to post Kasim's telephone number on the website!

In 2005 there was the infamous DougInfo.com page.

In 2006 there was The Nude Cars photo (which apparently fooled at least one member of the band!).

And in 2007 the Blog was changed to be Sunday 1st April 2018!

Last year the front page of KasimInfo.com was changed because Kasim Sulton's name has frequently been mis-spelt so there was a page of his name spelt Kazim Sultan. It can be viewed here.)

This year TRConnection again had most of the website about Ted Runger instead of Todd Rundgren.

The grant is part of the Seattle-based Gates Foundation’s Agricultural Development initiative that has made previous awards to groups improving crop yields and quality in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia
