Kasim Sulton gig - Fort Lauderdale, Florida
14.45 - Tonight The Kasim Sulton Band (consisting of Kasim, Jesse Gress and Doug Kennedy) plays a gig at The 43rd Annual Fort Lauderdale Billfish Tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (32 miles north of Miami). This tournament is described as "a five day event with a three-day offshore tournament that attracts hundreds of tournament anglers from South Florida and across the country" that has a total purse of over $380,000.
As well as a selection of restaurants with a variety of fish dishes and a specialist market featuring metal creations, beadwork and bags, on each of the 5 days of the festival there is entertainment each evening with a selection of different bands. The other headliner acts at this festival were Rick Derringer on Wednesday and Pat Travers on Saturday night. Kasim has the prime spot of the final night straight after the big awards ceremony! This could well prove to be one of the biggest gigs of Kasim's solo career as he could play to his largest audience (other than when he opened gigs for Meat Loaf in Europe) and the majority of people there may not know who Kasim is so he could convert a lot of people into fans tonight!
The address of the tournament is 841 SW 14th Court, #4, Pompano Beach, FL 33060. Click here to view the venue website. Entrance for the whole day is just $5 (available only at the gate) and you get a wristband so that you can wander in and out all day. The music started at 1.00pm on Sunday.
Presumably this is an outdoor gig and currently the weather is 79 degrees and is supposed to drop to about 75 for Kasim's set. There is supposed to be a 10% chance of precipitation but there's currently hardly a cloud in the sky! Kasim's set is expected to last 90 minutes and, as usual, there will be a chance to talk to Kasim after the gig.

Kasim Sulton's gig in Avondale Estates, GA last night
04.45 - Last night Kasim Sulton played the first of a series of gigs this month. The gig last night was at The Academy Theatre in Avondale Estates, Georgia.
The set list, reviews and photos will be added to KasimInfo.com soon but of most note was that Kasim played two songs that he hasn't played at his own gigs before - his new song Watching The World and Utopia's song The Up.
Doug Kennedy and Jesse Gress were also on stage with Kasim and Jesse sang background vocals on The Up and One World (which Kasim dedicated to Michelle Mercaldo). Kasim played for about ninety minutes.

Kasim Sulton gig - Avondale Estates, GA
00.15 - Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the first in a series of gigs this month. Also on stage tonight with Kasim will be Jesse Gress and Doug Kennedy.
The gig is at The Academy Theatre in Avondale Estates, Georgia which is about 20 minutes south east of Atlanta, GA.
The Academy Theatre is advertising this gig as "An Acoustic Evening with Kasim Sulton" and starts the blurb with the opening lines that I first wrote in a press release at least 6 years ago now! (Click here to read it.) This 1956 built venue seats 129 and the address is 119 Center Street, Avondale Estates, GA 30002. Click here to view the venue website.
Doors for this gig open at 6.00pm and the show starts at 7.00pm with an opening act of a local musician called Alec Roeser. This is a General Admission gig and tickets cost $60 or there is a $75 package which includes a DVD as this show is being recorded (subject to Kasim agreeing that the show is worthy of being released). Click here to purchase tickets and here for more info about this gig.

Kasim's Tour Name Suggestions 2
14.45 - This is the second selection of tour names that fans have sent in over the past few days:
The Verve Tour
The Roundabout Tour
The Road Show Tour
The Spring Forward Tour
Kasim Sulton and his March Madmen Tour
The What Did Keith and Amanda Do For These Gigs? Tour
"I Really Wish I Could've Played Philly" Tour?
The Kasim Sulton Will Not Be Playing Anywhere Near Rhode Island Tour 2008
Sulton Swing Scene Tour
Kasim and the Dynamos
The KasimNovas
The Thaw Your Ass Off Tour
The No Publicity Tour
The Unnamed Tour
The Nothing Else To Do So Lets Play Tour
The Theatre, Tournament, Party, Pub, Ballroom and Bar Tour
Finally someone e-mailed with the suggestion:
"I believe that the Kasim tour should be named "Fred" .
It's a good, solid, familiar name. Doesn't offend anybody. Creates no preconceptions about content. Has no hidden meanings. Makes people stop and go "Hmmmmmm. Fred? Why call a tour Fred? Maybe I should buy a ticket and find out". And, best of all, there is no possibility whatsoever of copyright infringement.
Such a deal!"
Thanks again to everyone who has suggested tour names. You never know but maybe on a proper tour in the future Kasim may use one of the suggestions!

Message from Kasim and new song
01.15 - Kasim Sulton has updated his online journal here. In this update he mentions his solo gigs and the Todd Rundgren tour. He also says that his new song Watching The World is at his MySpace page here.

Kasim's Own Forthcoming Gigs in March
01.00 - As Kasim Sulton is not going on the road as a tour as such (because he'll be returning home between most of the gigs) the Tour Map will not be compiled for these gigs although the distances he travels for each individual one (or two) will be posted.
This weekend Kasim plays gigs in Atlanta, GA on Saturday and in Fort Lauderdale, FL on Sunday. Staten Island, NY to Atlanta is 868 miles south which would take 14 hours by road. A non-stop flight takes about two and a half hours and costs about $100 coach.
Atlanta, GA to Fort Lauderdale is 641 miles south which would take nine and a half hours by road or a non-stop flight costs just over $100 coach and takes less than two hours.
Fort Lauderdale to Staten Island, NY is 1,254 miles which would take almost 20 hours driving. A non-stop flight costs about $190 coach and takes about 3 hours.

Tour Updates - TR, ML and KS
15.30 - Just a round-up of the latest tour news...
Todd Rundgren
Mary Lou (Todd Rundgren's Tour Manager) announced today that the five listed US tour dates in April have not been 100% confirmed yet so fans are advised to not purchase flights or hotels yet. None of the gigs are listed yet on the various venue websites.
Meat Loaf
To date only one gig has been listed anywhere on the website. It's on 29th June in Cork, Ireland but it is not known whether it will be a one-off (unlikely) or during which part it will fall during a tour or a series of gigs. However it has been reported in at least two places online that Meat Loaf will be playing a "castles" tour in Europe (as he did in 2005). Tickets for the one gig go on sale at 4.00am EST tomorrow (on TicketMaster.ie) although the gig is not listed yet on Meat Loaf's official website MeatLoaf.net.
Kasim Sulton
Obviously Kasim's series of gigs starts in two days. Although it's not too late for more to be added, it appears that the schedule of gigs will be:
Saturday 1st March - Academy Theatre, Avondale Estates, GA
Sunday 2nd March - Fort Lauderdale Billfish Tournament, Fort Lauderdale, FL
Friday 21st March - The Abbey Pub, Chicago, IL
Saturday 22nd March - Beachland Ballroom, Cleveland, Ohio
Friday 28th March - The Bitter End, New York City, NY
Kasim is also playing at a private party on Saturday 8th in Houston, Texas.
The Kasim Sulton March 2008 Gigs section of KasimInfo.com has been updated with venue and ticketing links.

A New Name for Kasim Sulton!
13.45 - Over the years there have been various ways that Kasim Sulton's name has been spelt incorrectly. (The usual mistake is to spell his last name as Sultan.)
However, for the first time, currently Kasim Sulton's name is spelt "Salton Cassim" on the website for the Todd Rundgren Tokyo gigs using the Google translation service! Click here to view it on the page plus it is screen-snapped below. On another page Todd's name is translated as "Ranguern Todd"!

Kasim Sulton gig - Fort Lauderdale, Florida
04.15 - This is the 2nd in a series of mini articles about the various venues / gigs that Kasim Sulton will be playing at his forthcoming shows in March.
A week today (Sunday 2nd) The Kasim Sulton Band (consisting of Kasim, Jesse Gress and Doug Kennedy) plays a gig at The 43rd Annual Fort Lauderdale Billfish Tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (32 miles north of Miami). This tournament is described as "a five day event with a three-day offshore tournament that attracts hundreds of tournament anglers from South Florida and across the country" that has a total purse of over $380,000.
As well as a selection of restaurants with a variety of fish dishes and a specialist market featuring metal creations, beadwork and bags, on each of the 5 days there is entertainment each evening with a selection of different bands. The other headliner acts at this festival are Rick Derringer on Wednesday and Pat Travers on Saturday night. Kasim has the prime spot of the Sunday (final) night straight after the big awards ceremony! This could well prove to be one of the biggest gigs of Kasim's solo career as he could play to his largest audience (other than when he opened gigs for Meat Loaf in Europe) and the majority of people there may not know who Kasim is so he could convert a lot of people into fans that night! Already fans are reported to be flying in from as far away as Milwaukee, WI and Boston, MA to see Kasim at this gig.
The address of the tournament is 841 SW 14th Court, #4, Pompano Beach, FL 33060. Click here to view the venue website. Entrance for the whole day is just $5 (available only at the gate) and you get a wristband so that you can wander in and out all day. The music starts at 1.00pm on Sunday.
Presumably this is an outdoor gig and currently the weather is supposed to be about 79 degrees and partly cloudy with only a 10% chance of precipitation so it's the perfect place to see a gig of Kasim's (with possibly a whiff of fish in the air!). Kasim's set is expected to last 90 minutes and, as usual, there will be a chance to meet Kasim after the gig.
