A look ahead at Kasim Sulton's week
01.15 - As Kasim Sulton is on tour this week, here's a look ahead at his week commencing yesterday.
On Sunday night Kasim Sulton played a Meat Loaf concert in Glasgow, Scotland. This week Kasim is playing 3 Meat Loaf concerts in England. They are:
Wednesday 31st - Newcastle Upon Tyne
Friday 2nd - Birmingham
Sunday 4th - Manchester
In recent years Meat Loaf tends to play concerts only every other night so it means that Kasim has Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights without concerts, although there will be travel between the cities.
Kasim's travel this week from Glasgow to the 3 cities will cover 450 miles and take about eight hours in total by road.

The Meat Loaf Bat Caves
03.00 - Meat Loaf has added some additional staging to his set design for this tour. It's the first time he's changed the design for over a decade and he's called it the Bat Caves. It is basically an extension of the stage so that there are 3 walkways (centre, right and left) out from the stage. The gaps between the walkways are the Bat Caves were fans can stand.
Below is a (very rough!) drawing of the stage area. It's not to scale and the audience were closer than indicated on this but the 3 black bits (walkways) are where Meat Loaf and the band could walk out.
There are only 2 concerts (Nottingham and Cardiff) where the Bat Caves were offered from sale right from the start as these were the two that were added later. At most of the UK venues some fans were contacted later and asked if they wanted to "upgarde" to the Bat Cave (tickets are double the price of normal tickets plus you receive a T-shirt and plastic laminate) but the way that fans were chosen seems to have been rather a lottery as some fans in the front rows were asked and others were not! Apprently at the German concerts, other than those people who always get in before the doors open, it was down to security about who got in the Bat Cave and who didn't.
The main audience are further back from the stage (probably 50 feet further back than with the standard stage layout) which may be why Meat Loaf stands at the end of the middle walkway so much during the concert. At the first concert (Dortmund) the majority of the people in the Bat Cave had his back to them for most of the concert but fans have reported that he is interacting with the Bat Cave more now.
The concern of several fans (myself included!) is how much fans at the front will be able to see of Kasim Sulton (and the rest of the band) when it is a seated concert and if the audience does sit (which can happen at UK concerts), especially as there's only one song (Anything For Love) when Kasim usually goes up the walkways.
John Miceli has some photos of the Bat Caves here and Chriss77 took some photos of them in use at a concert near the start of this thread.

Kasim Sulton at the SECC, Glasgow, Scotland
02.00 - Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the 6th concert on the second European leg of the Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour. The concert is at the SECC in Glasgow, Scotland and is the only concert in that country. SECC stands for Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.
According to the venue website, doors open at 6.30pm with the support act (Meat Loaf's daughter Pearl AdayMeat Loaf's set is supposed to last from 8.10pm until 10.30pm (15.10 to 17.30 NYC time). Bat Cave tickets were also sold for this concert at £109 (about $200).
This concert is mainly a standing concert (but with seating at the back) and tickets are £37.50 to £45 (about $65 to $85). The website says that the availablity of tickets is "good" which is not good news for ticket sales! Apparently Donny Osmond played here last night and it was sold out (although that may have been a seated concert).
Kasim Sulton has played at this venue lots of times over the past few years (with Meat Loaf). The last time that Kasim was here was on Friday 18th May 2007.
This venue is Scotland's national venue for public events and it has five main exhibition halls of area up to 10,000 m². It is probably best known for hosting its concerts with acts such as The Rolling Stones, U2, Oasis, Genesis, Kylie Minogue, Sting and many others with concerts taking place almost every other night. When it is fully seated it holds 8,200.
The SECC was built in 1985 and has the nickname among locals of "The Big Red Shed", owing to its outward appearance which resembled a giant red painted warehouse. However the nickname has become redundant following the building being repainted grey in recent years!

Photography at the UK Meat Loaf concerts
02.30 - Further to the post below at 17.00 yesterday, now Britain's biggest (but trashiest!) selling national daily newspaper (circulation 8 million) The Sun has picked up on the story that Meat Loaf is not allowing photographers or reviewers at the forthcoming UK concerts.
Click here to read the article. They cite the reason is "because he has piled on the pounds". Considering that he used to be considerably larger back in the 1970s that hardly rings true.
The Sun is not generally known for the accuracy of its reporting. In fact it's well known that hacks from the paper snoop around one of the (non music) messageboards that I use and post rumors and fan reports directly from there.
On the subject of photography at concerts, at some of the recent German shows, some fans have reported that they were told by security that they were not allowed to take photos when they were in the Bat Caves. However there are also reports that Meat Loaf even took one fan's camera at one concert to take some photos of CC for her and at another concert was disappointed that nobody had a camera so he could take photos again!

Meat Loaf European Tour Map
02.00 - Tomorrow night Kasim Sulton plays the 6th concert on the second European leg of the Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour. The concert is in Glasgow, Scotland and is the first concert outside of Germany. (As this tour consists of only 18 concerts, on KasimInfo.com the whole tour is being counted as one as far as the mileage calculation is concerned.) The 5th concert of the tour was on Friday evening in Bremen, Germany.
There are numerous ways of traveling from Bremen in the north of Germany to Glasgow in the north of the British Isles so this part of the tour will be a total estimate!
The fastest way would be by plane despite the fact that there are no direct flights between the two cities (although they could charter a plane). A one way flight via Frankfurt will cost a whopping $594!
There are several ferry routes that can be taken. These include Hook of Holland to Harwich, England, Ostend, Belguim to Ramsgate, England and Calais, France to Dover, England. All 3 routes will include driving through the length of England to get to the west coast of Scotland where Glasgow is located.
Another alternative is to catch Eurostar (a train which runs under the English Channel between England and France) from Calais, France to Dover, England.
As the lorries won't have flown, the best estimate is the one below which is 919 miles and will take almost 15 hours (although it is highly unlikely that Kasim will take that route!). This route will go from Germany through Holland, through Belguim, through France, through England into Scotland!
Meat Loaf 2nd European leg Tour Mileage by road to date venue to venue (estimated) - 1,953 miles.

Photography at the UK Meat Loaf concerts
17.00 - A couple of articles have appeared in British publications over the past two days about Meat Loaf apparently not allowing photographers or reviewers at his forthcoming UK concerts.
Click here to read the article in The Manchester Evening News and here (halfway down the page) to read the one in the national newspaper The Independent.
Unfortunately the knock-on effect of this is that it means that no professional photos will be taken of Kasim Sulton on this tour!

Kasim Sulton in Bremen, Germany
01.00 - Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the 5th concert on the second European leg of the Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour. The concert is at the AWD Dome in Bremen, Germany. This is the final concert in Germany on this leg of the tour. (Bremen is in the north of Germany).
The concert tonight is at the AWD Dome which used to be called Stadthalle Bremen (it is now named after a financial company) which was built in the early 1960s. The venue is not dome shaped but was probably given that part of its name as there is already an AWD Arena (in Hannover). Since its $50 million refurbishment in 2005 it has been expanded from seating 3,500 to 14,000, although tonight's concert is mainly a standing concert.
The concert starts at 8.00pm tonight (3.00pm in New York City) with doors opening at 6.30pm (1.30pm NYC time). One complaint lots of fans have about concerts in Germany is that certain fans are allowed into the venues early (due to their "connections") so that when fans who have queued up outside for 3 or 4 hours get inside most of the front row or Bat Cave has already been taken.

Meat Loaf European Tour Map
16.30 - Tomorrow night Kasim Sulton plays the 5th concert on the second European leg of the Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour. The concert is in Bremen, Germany and is the final concert in that country. The 4th concert of the tour was on Wednesday evening in Nurnberg, Germany.
Nurnberg to Bremen is 297 miles north and will have taken just over 4 hours by road. The rumors are that they traveled overnight last night after the concert.
Meat Loaf 2nd European leg Tour Mileage by road to date venue to venue (estimated) - 1,034 miles.
The following is a map of the route for the five concerts in Germany (the tour started last Thursday) which shows that it didn't follow the most logical route!

Kasim Sulton in Dortmund, Germany
01.15 - Last night Kasim Sulton played the first concert on the second European leg of the Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour. The concert was in Westfalenhallen in Dortmund, Germany.
The concert lasted almost exactly 2 hours and the set list was very similar to the summer concerts in US, although two additions were DeadRinger For Love and, for the first time since the 1980s, I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us, plus It's All Coming Back To Me Now returned.
The set list was:
All Revved Up (part)
If It Ain't Broke
Out Of The Frying Pan (And Into The Fire)
Life Is A Lemon
You Took The Words Right Outta My Mouth
DeadRinger For Love (CC Coleti sang female lead)
In The Land Of The Pigs (The Butcher Is King)
I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us
It's All Coming Back To Me Now (Aspen Miller sang female lead)
Rock 'n' Roll Dreams
Paradise By The Dashboard Light
Bat Out Of Hell
Anything For Love
Mercury Blues
Gimme Shelter
Kasim Sulton wore a black jacket and pants with a white T-shirt through the whole set (there was no change of clothes). For most of the concert Kasim was playing a different bass (see photo below) which did not appear to be a KSulton Bass. Kasim only used his black KSulton Bass during In The Land Of The Pigs, Rock 'n' Roll Dreams and songs at the end of the set.
