See You In Black
Review by SueW:
This venue appeared to be on an industrial estate and had an outside area with tables before you entered the main hall.
This gig was another one to replace a Rock The Nation Festival so tickets went on sale less than a month ago. Consequently it was only about two thirds full (maybe 200 people???). However it was a very receptive crowd.
The opening act played from 8pm until 8.45pm and was the same band as last night. They improved on a second hearing.
Although I felt far less tired tonight I didn’t enjoy the gig as much as I did last night, probably because there was more instrumental and less singing.
Tonight when Blue Oyster Cult came on stage they immediately played the instrumental Buck’s Boogie. Afterwards Eric asked how many people had been at the gig the previous evening (it was only two hours away). Loads of people obviously had which is why Eric said that they had changed the set list.
Kasim seemed to sing less again tonight although his bass solo was longer than on Saturday. He was wearing a T-shirt again but obviously was hot from the start.
Eric had a few technical problems tonight and a couple of times had to go off stage to sort out his guitar and sound.
Overall the sound in the venue was very good, at least where I was standing.
Most people seemed to know the words to Godzilla and sang along, likewise Don’t Fear The Reaper and Burnin’ For You (which I think is my favourite of their songs as it’s very melodic).
Richie came across to Kasim’s side several times tonight (it was a small stage anyway) but I noticed that Kasim only went as far as the drum kit but possibly that was because the keyboards were on stage right so that side is slightly cramped!
After they finished their encore the crowd obviously wanted more and continued trying to incite them to play another encore even after all the house lights were up!
Roll on Spain on Thursday!

The gig tonight is at Hirsch in Nuremberg, Germany and is another gig which cancels a Rock The Nation festival gig so was only added less than a month ago.
Last night they played in Aschaffenburg so they will have only had a 2 hour drive in a south easterly direction.
It is difficult to find out much about any of these German gigs but they are almost always all standing. The gig tonight starts at 8pm (2pm in NYC). All Rights Reserved |
