With 6 gigs in 9 days, 4,000 miles to drive and 10 different hotels I won’t have much time for full reviews so this is just a few of my thoughts about the gig.

This gig was one to replace a Rock The Nation Festival so tickets went on sale less than a month ago. Consequently I wondered how well it had sold but the place was packed!

The venue was a place which probably held 300 - 400. Most people stood but there were some bar seats dotted around the hall.

I had been on a 4 hour tour of Munich (4 hours to the south) so I opted to stand back a bit and lean against a ledge although my feet and back were still very sore by the time I had stood for another 3.5 hours at the gig. It did mean that I could only see Buck and Kasim clearly but I wasn’t too concerned!

The opening band started promptly at 8pm. They were very loud so during the first time I struggled to work out if they were singing in German or English! The lead singer spoke during the songs in German but all the other songs were in English. I thought they improved after the first song and the crowd really seemed to like them. They were certainly much better than Lou Reed!

They finished at 8.45pm and Blue Oyster Cult came on stage at 9.30pm. They played until 11.02pm (including the encore) and were a massive hit with the crowd who kept shouting ‘B-O-C’ during their songs!

It was hot in the venue and, even though Kasim was wearing a T-shirt, he looked hot when he walked on stage and even hotter by the end of the set! It was a small stage so Kasim went to stage right a couple of times when Richie came across to stage left.

The set list was different from Saturday’s festival probably because the knew they were plan to just their fans and not a festival crowd who do not know all their albums.

Just before Golden Age Of Leather (the second song) Eric introduced Kasim to the German crowd and, when they introduced the band at the end of the gig, he received a massive cheer and round of applause.

They did the Kasim’s musical history (Joan Jett / Todd Rundgren / Meat Loaf) part again which was popular but the highlight of the evening for me (and something which received a massive cheer!) was Kasim’s bass solo in Godzilla! It was longer than in France on Saturday and it’s so lovely to see him playing in the centre of the stage with the spotlight on him.

It was great to hear Harvest Moon live and Don’t Fear The Ripper was very popular with this crowd tonight!

Eric and Buck’s voices are both warm so Kasim’s voice blends really well with theirs. Kasim seemed to sing more songs tonight or maybe they just had more songs which required the extra vocals than on Saturday.

I was told after the gig that BOC don't play I Love The Night very often.

Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the third gig of a 7 gig Blue Oyster Cult tour in Europe.

The gig tonight is at Colos-Saal in Aschaffenburg, Germany.

On Saturday they played in Montereau Fault Yonne, France so they will have had a 7 hour drive east for this gig.

Originaly tonight Blue Oyster Cult were due to play at a festival in Berlin before all the Rock The Nation festivals were canceled by the promoter so this gig was only added a few weeks ago.

The gig tonight starts at 8pm (2pm in NYC).
