I Saw The Light "Simply put, the Bearsville Theater Show was an incredible night of rock n’ roll!" "The crowd was not quite as large as the previous sold out performances." "Kasim was thundering away, occasionally smiling, and rock solid with his fingers and frets." "Really intimate environment with a great crowd. Small enough to see everything. As a matter of fact, it was like having Todd play in your living-room." "This is an all out guitar playing night!" "The sound was terriffic, after the overly loud Englewood NJ tour, just the perfect mix." "Todd and the band seemed as if they were all in a great mood, and embraced the crowd in playing and usual Todd banter." "The show was somewhat shorter, w/ a few tunes dropped, I believe. We did NOT get #1 Lowest Common Denominator, BTS, and a few others. I was bummed about #1 LCD, which is an all-time favorite." "The show began around 9:20pm, ended 11:33pm. Opening act was really quite good too. All in all a smoking night of phenomenal guitar playing and loud rock n’ roll."

Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the first of three gigs this week as part of Todd Rundgren's band. The gig tonight is at The Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, NY and they will be playing a set based on the Robert Johnson music which they played earlier this year.
Of course Utopia was heavily associated with the Woodstock area as this is where they made their albums back in the 1970s and early 1980s. The idea of The Bearsville Theater was originaly conceived by Albert Grossman (the owner and president of Bearsville Records and was the person who Kasim wrote Set Me Free to) and was eventually opened in 1989 by his widow Sally Grossman.
Among the stars who have appeared on this theaters stage are Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward The Pretenders, Jimmy Cliff and Warren Zevon. The Bearsville Theater property also includes two restaurants and the offices of WDST and Radio Woodstock. Both the radio stations are housed in Utopia which is Todd Rundgren’s former video studio!
The theater is a Proscenium style stage which is 23.5 feet deep and 50 feet wide. The address of the venue tonight is 291 Tinker Street (Route 212), Woodstock, NY 12498 and the gig starts at 8pm with the doors opening at 7pm. There are currently General Admission tickets available on the door at $40 (the $50 balcony seats have all sold out).
The opening act is Sean Schenker and Jason Sarubbi of The Trapps so Kasim, Todd, Jesse Gress and Prairie Prince are expected to take the stage at about 9pm - 9.15pm.
Kasim last played at this venue on Tuesday 23rd December 2008 as part of Todd Rundgren's Arena Tour. Prior to that Kasim Sulton played a solo gig here on Saturday 17th May 2008.
