Couldn't I just Tell You I caught the show last night at The Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, TN. I have been a Todd fan for decades and seen hundreds of show and always enjoy when Kasim joins him on the road. Unfortunately, the sound was not very good and it took awhile to get a decent mix going. I loved the first part of the show, but got lost in the new album stuff, which is not some of my favorite Todd. It was a very small venue (old movie theatre) and I think the sound guy might have overcompensated expecting it to be too loud. The band was, as always, tight and Todd is still a good showman. I have to say honestly that Kasim looked pretty bored and, perhaps, wished he was somewhere else? He didn't seem to enjoy himself or be part of the band "atmosphere". Kasim's bass playing was missed. I have nothing against Rachel, but the feel/groove/lines were noticeably absent.
Comments by fans posted to various messageboards and mailing lists include:
"or me, "Trapped" was perhaps the strongest performance of the night. Just roaring!"
"I saw this lineup in Knoxville in October, and it seems to have lost a bit of luster this time."
"As for the band's performance, they sounded strong & well-rehearsed, but a little floppy in spots."
"asim's vocals were indispensable-but (again) his guitar was nowhere to be heard."
