On Tuesday 14th March 2006 after months of rumor and speculation The New Cars held a press conference at The House Of Blues in Los Angeles to announce that The Cars would be reforming as The New Cars and playing a US tour with Blondie, plus releasing an album on 9th May.

Original Cars' lead guitarist Elliot Easton and keyboardist Greg Hawkes will be joined in the band by Todd Rundgren (guitar / vocals), Kasim Sulton (bass / vocals) and Prairie Prince (drums). On the tour (to be called The Road Rage Tour) they will play a mixture of old Cars songs, some new songs and a few Todd Rundgren songs. At the press conference they announced that the tour starts in Robinsonville, MS on 12th May and the first leg of the tour ends on 1st July in Saratoga Springs, NY.

The press conference was attended by numerous reporters from print, radio and television, as well as loads of photographers. Unfortunately Kasim Sulton was not asked any questions during the press conference. A press release about the event and band can be read here.
